ORTEC as long-standing sponsor

At ORTEC, we believe in the power of mathematics. Since 2012, the beginning of the Dutch Mathematical Olympiad, we have proudly sponsored the student competition. Recognizing its impact, ORTEC proposed the introduction of a business edition (The Olympiad for Companies) since the early days of the Olympiad, allowing professionals from sponsoring companies to test their problem-solving skills. Today, the event remains a great success, fostering both competition and collaboration among the brightest mathematical talents. Our long-standing sponsorship of the Dutch Mathematical Olympiad reflects our dedication to mathematics and encouraging new generations to explore mathematics.

Highlights from this year’s Olympiad

In total, there were 65 participants divided into 22 company teams. There was a fun, varying vibe: some slight nerves before the competition started, focus and concentration during the competition, and relaxed and celebratory afterwards. While our ORTEC’s teams didn’t land in the top three, we’re proud of their problem-solving skills. Noteworthy achievements:

🏆 Kamiel Cornelissen, one of ORTEC’s team players, scored 38 out of 46 points, ranking among the highest individual scorers of the competition

🏆 The average score of our ORTEC-participants exceeded the overall competition average

🏆  Gerrit Timmer, co-founder of ORTEC, presented our work and its impact on real-world optimization challenges. The audience was very receptive of this presentation and positively intrigued by the variety of topics where optimization can play a key role.
